Direct billing to Sun Life, Manulife, Green Shield and more.

We send the claim to your insurer from our front desk in Richmond Hill. You pay only the part your plan does not cover. Chiropractic, physiotherapy and massage therapy, all in one clinic on Yonge Street.

Tell us your insurer over the phone and we will check what your plan covers before you come in, so there are no surprises at the desk.

How direct billing works at our front desk

Direct billing means the clinic submits your claim to the insurance company for you. You do not pay the full fee and then wait weeks for a reimbursement cheque. Here is the whole process.

Give us your plan details

Your insurer's name, your policy or group number, and your member or certificate ID. You can read these to us over the phone before your first visit, or bring the card with you.

We submit the claim

At the end of your appointment we send the claim to your insurer electronically. The response usually comes back while you are still at the desk.

You pay the remainder

Whatever your plan does not cover is what you pay that day. If your plan covers the full visit fee, you pay nothing.

Some employer plans do not allow a provider to submit on your behalf, and a few insurers require the member to file the claim themselves. Call us with your insurer's name and we will tell you which situation you are in before you book.

Insurers we bill directly

We submit claims directly to the major Canadian extended health carriers. If your insurer is not on this list, call us anyway. The list of carriers that accept provider submissions changes, and plans administered through a third party often still go through.

What to bring to your first visit

  • Your insurer's name. The company that pays the claim, which is not always the same as your employer.
  • Policy or group number. Printed on your benefits card and available in your insurer's app.
  • Member or certificate ID. The number that identifies you specifically on the plan.
  • The plan holder's details, if you are covered under a spouse's or parent's plan rather than your own.
  • A physician's note, only if your plan requires one for massage therapy. Some do. We can check yours on the phone.

Services your extended health plan may cover

Extended health plans usually treat each of these as its own category with its own annual maximum. Coverage for chiropractic does not come out of your massage therapy budget, and the amounts differ from plan to plan.

Chiropractic

Assessment and treatment with Dr. Souna Arami, DC or Dr. Delaram Eshaghi, DC for back pain, neck pain, sciatica, disc injuries and headaches.

Physiotherapy

Initial assessment and treatment with Jenny or Avi, both Registered Physiotherapists, for injury recovery, joint pain and return to activity.

Massage therapy

Treatment with Elsa, Jennifer or Maggie, all Registered Massage Therapists. Receipts are issued under the RMT designation your plan asks for.

Acupuncture and osteopathy

Both available in the clinic. Whether your plan covers them depends on the policy, so it is worth asking us to check.

Custom orthotics and braces

Custom orthotics, knee and back braces, and medical-grade compression socks. These are usually billed under a separate benefit from your treatment visits.

One clinic, one set of paperwork

Because chiropractic, physiotherapy and massage therapy run out of the same office, you are not re-explaining your coverage at three different front desks.

Questions we get on the phone

Do I pay anything at the visit?

Only the portion your plan does not cover. Plans often reimburse a percentage of the fee rather than the whole thing, and some have a per-visit cap. We will know the exact amount once the claim comes back, which is usually before you leave.

What if my plan only covers part of the fee?

You pay the difference by card or cash at the desk. We tell you the number before you pay it, and you get a receipt showing what the insurer covered.

I am covered under two plans. Can you bill both?

Usually yes. This is called coordination of benefits. We submit to your primary plan first, then send the remaining balance to the second plan. Bring both sets of details and tell the front desk when you arrive.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

You do not need a referral to see a chiropractor, physiotherapist or massage therapist in Ontario. Some insurance plans ask for a physician's note before they will pay, particularly for massage therapy. That is a requirement of the plan rather than of the clinic. Call us and we will check whether yours asks for one.

When does my coverage reset?

Plans commonly run on a calendar year and reset on January 1, though some follow the employer's benefit year instead. Unused coverage does not carry forward. If you have been putting off treatment, the balance sitting in your plan now is the balance you lose at the reset.

What if you cannot direct bill my insurer?

You pay at the visit and we give you an itemized receipt with the practitioner's registration number on it, which is what your insurer needs for reimbursement. Most plans let you submit that through an app in a couple of minutes.
